Luxe mixology classes
Classroom meets cocktails at the next session of In the Mix, a luxury mixology experience at Fashion Island inspired by the essence of the seasons.
Next lesson: The coolest drinks of spring and summer with The Botanist Gin. The event takes place 3-5 p.m. April 23, near RH on the lawn at ocean-view Seitz Park.
Known for its satin-smooth texture, The Botanist is the first gin produced on Scotland’s Isle of Islay, celebrated for its distilleries. The artisanal spirit might be most often used as the preferred key ingredient in gin and tonic, martini and negroni cocktails.
Participants will sample sophisticated drinks using The Botanist, including a cucumber gimlet and the classic Bees Knees, and learn to make a mojito riff using gin.
Botanicals and blooms are a focus of the event. The Botanist uses 22 hand-foraged botanicals including lemon balm, red clover and mug wort, as well as nine aromatics that bring herbal freshness, juniper and sweet citrus to the fore.
A light menu by Great Maple complements the class. Tray-passed and at the table, highlights include portobello-mushroom fries, chicken-and-doughnut skewers, a field-green salad and beignets. Optional activities include bouquet-making.
In the Mix tickets are $25 on Eventbrite.
