Women at the Helm

An exclusive event for new boat owners in Newport Harbor

CRC Marinas Newport Beach recently partnered with Level Up Yachting and Silver Seas Yachts Newport Beach to host “Women at the Helm,” a one-day, hands-on boating experience. The powerboat training session for women aimed to sharpen their nautical skills.

“This event was for boat owners of all levels to build confidence on the water,” says Nicole Weaver, sales and marketing manager at CRC Marinas Newport Beach.

According to Marina Business World, California ranks third in the country for female boat consumers. More women of all ages are learning how to command boats. CRC Marinas hosts events such as “Women at the Helm” so female boaters can find community in Newport Beach.

Before embarking, the guests enjoyed a light lunch and were surprised with a skincare lesson from Spa Pendry, focused on a sun-protection tutorial.

Chris Parker from Level Up Yachting provided an overview of what the women would experience at the helm and some boating basics, while Ben Masonheimer of Silver Sea Yachts explained the features of each vessel.

The real fun began when the women took the helm and single handedly  took turns docking the boats, always with the support of an experienced captain.

Newport Harbor is among the most vibrant yacht harbors in the United States, with 10,000 recreational vessels calling it their homeport. CRC Marinas includes 455 exclusive boat slips and the finest docks in Newport. It’s known for its four prime marinas, onshore amenities and best-in-class service.
