Sun, sea and signature bites at food and wine festival
Lovers of food and wine gather for bold flavors, glorious pours and summer vibes at the Pacific Wine & Food Classic. The celebrated event, now in its eighth year, takes place Sept. 20 on the sands of Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort.
Three dozen restaurant participants include Fashion Island’s Cucina Enoteca chef Cesar Sarmiento, Great Maple food and beverage director Steven Ashworth, Red O chef Hugo Cruz, Scratch Bakery Café executive pastry chef Louise Chien and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos co-founder Wing Lam.
The festival presents 100-plus wines. The Paso Robles Grand Wine Experience features 30 of that region’s famed wineries. Miraval’s Rosé All Day gazebo is at the water’s edge. Hi-Time Wine Cellars’ Bubble Bar pours sparkling wine and beer.
Spirits such as Aspen Vodka and Papa’s Pilar Rum prepare craft cocktails. Find zero-proof cocktails at Mocktail Magic. DeSoi, the nonalcoholic apéritif by Katy Perry and distiller Morgan McLachlan, sponsors Silent Disco. The dessert garden is new.
“The Pacific Wine & Food Classic brings people together in the most delicious way possible,” event producer Pamela Waitt says. “It’s a celebration of local culinary talent, our love for connection and the joy of sharing unforgettable culinary experiences.”
The event runs 2 to 5 p.m., with VIP early entrance at 1 p.m. Find out more at pacificwineandfood.com.
