Sage Hill Opens Middle School, Continuing a Century-Old Master Plan Legacy

This fall, students are settling into brand-new classrooms as Sage Hill School in Newport Coast opened its middle school. Powered by a $25 million local fundraising campaign, the expansion includes a new building and a second gymnasium to serve seventh and eighth graders. The debut fulfills a 25-year vision held by the school’s founders and highlights a commitment to education on The Irvine Ranch that stretches back nearly a century. In 1929, Irvine Company provided 20 acres of land for Newport Harbor High School. When Sage Hill was founded in 2000, the company donated the 30-acre campus site to ensure a premier educational institution was woven directly into the Newport Coast community fabric. This strategic master planning has long benefited Newport Beach, having also provided the land and infrastructure for Corona del Mar High, Newport Coast Elementary, Ensign Intermediate, Lincoln Elementary and many other schools.
