Live, Work and Play: Villas Fashion Island
Joshua Spitz and Jodi Cohan love living at Villas Fashion Island, the luxury apartment community at Newport Center. He’s a portfolio manager for PIMCO, and she’s an interior designer with her own firm, JAC Studio. They moved to Newport Beach from New York City almost three years ago. “When we first moved here, we had no idea how centrally located Villas is,” Joshua says. “Now that we appreciate where we are, there is no better location.”
What’s it like living at Villas Fashion Island?
Jodi: It gives us the city vibe we love, with amazing access to nature. We bike around the Back Bay once a week or more. The beach at Crystal Cove State Park is just minutes away, and we hike in El Moro Canyon.
Joshua: We love the area, and we love Villas. We are known as ‘the walkers’ because we walk the gorgeous grounds each night after dinner. Jodi also made a best friend who lives here.
Why did you first choose the Villas Fashion Island?
Joshua: We moved for the convenience of my professional life — I walk, or more often bike, to work at PIMCO most days. It’s minutes away. We soon discovered there is no better location for Jodi’s interior design firm, JAC Studio.
Jodi: Living here affords easy access to all of Southern California to meet with my clients and visit design showrooms and stores. Plus, the airport is minutes away for trips to the East Coast, where I have clients and we visit our friends.
Are there other advantages of your Villas lifestyle?
Jodi: We like the ease of living here. The service and amenities are amazing. A friend who visited said, ‘You didn’t tell us you lived at a resort.’
Joshua: We were thinking of buying a home in the area. But we want to maximize the time we have together each day and not stress about home maintenance. We may stay here forever.
